CannonDesign is thrilled to share Square, Inc. has selected our firm to design its new St. Louis workplace.

As reported by the St. Louis Post Dispatch, St. Louis Business Journal and other media, we will help Square renovate the historic St. Louis Post-Dispatch building as a cutting-edge workplace equipped to help the company expand its local workforce, recruit and retain top local talent, and fuel growth strategies. CannonDesign will provide multi-dimensional design services including architecture, interior design, engineering and lighting design. Trivers will lead the design and restoration of the building’s core and shell.

“The Post-Dispatch Building is a remarkable civic asset, and we hope this project brings even more new energy to St. Louis’ downtown core, and bolsters the city’s surging technology economy,” said Ken Crabiel, CannonDesign’s St. Louis Commercial Market Leader. “We’re proud to help Square create a dynamic workplace that will empower their people, culture and business long into the future.”

As one of the leading financial technology companies in the world, Square creates tools that empower people to shorten the distance between having an idea and making a living from it. Breakthrough products like the company’s reader and point-of-sale app, make it easier for companies of all sizes to start, run and grow their business.

“Our global design studio is sparked by complex transformation projects that push us and our clients beyond what others might have deemed possible. Square’s new office in St. Louis is that kind of project,” explained Michael Bonomo, CannonDesign’s Global Director of Workplace. “This is an exciting moment for Square, St. Louis’ technology ecosystem, and our design team. I personally look forward to move-in day for Square.”

Nicole Andreu, CannonDesign’s design lead for the project added, “Square is one of the most innovative companies of our time, and their new St. Louis workplace will be designed to help them reach even higher. This workplace will unite the best ideas around the future of work, employee experience, technology, wellness, and more to create an experience remarkably calibrated to help Square’s people thrive.”

This project builds on CannonDesign’s rich legacy of design work that nourishes and advances St. Louis. Through the renovation of the city’s Power House as our own workplace, to 4260 Cortex, the revitalization of the St. Louis Public Library’s Central Library and numerous other efforts, CannonDesign consistently demonstrates its unwavering commitment to St. Louis and those who call it home.
