Charlene Miraglia, Director of Human Resources, Receives HR Impact Award

We are excited to announce that Charlene Miraglia, our Director of Human Resources, has been recognized with a 2022 Buffalo Business First HR Impact Award.

Charlene’s nomination and recognition is more than deserving. Her resilience has earned her a reputation for reinforcing positive organizational change and always helping employees reach their full potential. She is dedicated to continually strengthening CannonDesign’s workplace culture and enhancing our firm’s ongoing efforts related to recruitment and retention, employee development, diversity, equity and inclusion, and competitive benefits.

Within her four years at CannonDesign, Charlene has spurred significant changes that have improved the firm. That list includes:

  • Leading the implementation of several work-life balance measures that give employees more control over their hours and work/life balances.
  • Helping shape our company’s DEI framework, a program that actively invests in programs and initiatives that foster equity and inclusion within our firm, break down barriers for entry into the profession, and provide support to marginalized communities in the cities where we live and work.
  • Establishing leading internal groups such as Women@CannonDesign, our LGBTQ+ Council, our NEXT council, which is a young leadership development program, and AMP, an in-house incubator.
  • Helping launch the Inclusive Partner Program. She also drove the decision to offer unconscious bias and microaggression training in 2021.

“I see this award as a win for CannonDesign, not me alone. That’s because it takes a team to make things happen,” said Charlene. “Some of our accomplishments are super visible and some are not to the firm. We have made a huge amount of foundational changes more visible like more work/life flexibility and changing the NEXT program to a leadership development program. It’s not a person or one team, but it’s a confluence of everything and I’m grateful and it makes what I do fun and fulfilling.”
