We’re excited to share our dynamic Blue Sail HQ campus project is featured in recent national Chinese media reports about Shanghai’s growing R&D sector.

Specifically, the coverage highlights how Shanghai has signed more than 160 important industrial projects with a total investment of more than 100 billion yuan since the start of the year-and 60 of these projects have already begun construction. These projects are set to bolster the city’s economy and specifically its R&D sector.

Our Blue Sail HQ project is a cornerstone of these investments for the city. The 1 million square foot project will establish the company’s new headquarters, R&D manufacturing space, a business incubator, on-site hotel, museum and exhibition center within a world-class environment. The design features landscaped outdoor terraces, native plantings within a central courtyard and a landmark public hill.

The project should complete in 2025, and its “workplace of the future” design will anchor a newly developed innovation district in the Pudong area of Shanghai and reinforce the status of Blue Sail as an industry force and global innovator.

Also, as part of the schematic design work, our engineering team provided design playbooks for lighting, smart systems and sustainability to guide the development of the design by the local design institute. This local technical team will develop necessary documentation to carry the design through construction.

On a side note, it is really hard to grasp the enormity of the site and the project as a whole. The project manager was able to share that initial site excavation work will remove an estimated 327000 cubic yards (250000m3) of earth, which is equivalent to 100 olympic sized swimming pools! Also, the structure will require 1232 piles to be driven!
