PJ Glasco, a principal and key leader in our firm and its health practice, is featured in the newest Design Voice Podcast episode. In the episode, PJ talks about her experience immigrating to the U.S from India, how she developed a passion for architecture, why she finds inspiration working in healthcare, her strategies for work-life integration, her love for martial arts, and much more.

The Design Voice podcast seeks to elevate and amplify the voices of women in the architecture, engineering and construction professions. Hosted by DLR Group’s Catherine Meng, the episodes focus on honest conversations with the women who shape our built environment.

The full podcast can be found on the Design Voice website or iTunes. Here’s are two excerpts:

What do you love about working in healthcare?

Most of architecture is about people, but healthcare, specifically, I feel is about the people. When we work with health systems, we meet some of the most intelligent people in the country. They’re intelligent, passionate, and committed, and I enjoy the opportunity to try and help them solve their challenges and bring better care to patients and their families, because that’s ultimately what it’s all about. For me, the human aspect of healthcare design just drives me. You’re designing to help people in so many ways. I love it.

What’s next for you in your career?

That’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot. I’ve had really wonderful mentors and I’ve sought out people who can help me. I’ve always been driven, but you need people to help guide you. I was fortunate to have people who truly invested in me and helped me get where I wanted to go. Personally, I really want to pay that back in the years ahead. I love mentoring. I love seeing teams grow. I love seeing our younger staff develop, and I want to build a really strong base in our Houston office so I can know I’m paying it forward.
