UnionWest at Creative Village receives top award from ACUI

We're thrilled to share the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) has recognized the University of Central Florida and Valencia College’s UnionWest at Creative Village with a 2022 Outstanding Facility Design Award.
The ACUI Facility Design Awards recognize excellence in the design of student-centered facilities that support campus community building and student learning. This year's award marks the 10th time a CannonDesign project has received this recognition.
UnionWest at Creative Village is a transformative project delivering a distinct student experience. The building is home to a unique student life and education experience that blends student support, housing, academics and a culinary school together in one space.
The first five floors of the building house retail dining, a recreation center, a health and counseling center, student support services and more than 50,000 square feet dedicated to the Walt Disney World Center for Culinary Arts and Hospitality. The top 10 floors house student residences with 600 beds.
Many unions can claim programming challenges when multiple stakeholders are involved. But UnionWest stands apart in its seamless blending of two academic institutions in a developer-driven tenant fit-out model with one of the most recognizable commercial brands supporting a signature academic program.
Beyond this year's ACUI Facility Design Award, below is a list of the nine additional projects that have received this prestigious distinction over the years:
