We are thrilled to welcome Marcus Moomey, AIA, DBIA to the CannonDesign team. As the new St. Louis and Denver BPL, Marcus will focus on each office’s financial success, alignment and management of resources, process delivery, and staff growth and development.
With over 25 years of experience, Marcus’ diverse design and build career began as a program manager on large school bond programs. The sheer volume of projects he was able to impact shaped the balance of his career. Learning the industry from the owner’s perspective, evaluating, hiring, and working closely with design and build partners, as well as executing project in concert with community stakeholders, has driven his desire to produce great work and execute projects effectively. Returning to St. Louis after studying at Washington University in St Louis provided Marcus the opportunity to focus on obtaining his architectural license and design-build credentials. Marcus previously worked for KAI Design & Build, where as the Director of Design-Build he and his team managed and executed some of the firm’s most notable and award-winning projects.
“Marcus’ presence and leadership on our team will be instrumental in our collective client engagement and project delivery efforts in St. Louis and Denver," said Amy Phillips, St. Louis Office Practice Leader. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and embodies our Living-Centered Design focus with our teams and in creating a positive impact for the communities we serve.”
Marcus thoroughly enjoys building teams and watching them thrive. He credits past and present mentors and sees the true value of building relationships and sharing our experiences with each other. Marcus has an appreciation for design from the grandest scale down to the craftsmanship of a single detail and finds himself especially attracted to projects that balance great design with user, community, and sustainability goals. Marcus is active in the AIA St. Louis Chapter and currently serves as the Board President.
“I am proud to have built diverse and talented teams that produce award-winning design work and have fun. I’ve had the opportunity to shape the operations of design, project management/ construction management, and at-risk construction companies at a project, group and enterprise level. My work and experience have been diverse, but projects, people and business management are at the heart of it—and I’m excited to bring that drive to CannonDesign.”Marcus Moomey, St. Louis and Denver BPL for CannonDesign
On a personal note, Marcus married his college sweetheart 23 years ago, who is also an architect. They are extremely proud of the 125-year-old home they bought years back that was ‘unlivable’ and then restored it into a beautiful home where they raised two brilliant daughters.
