We’re thrilled to share Tom Garigen has joined CannonDesign as the Office Practice Leader (OPL) of our Buffalo and Pittsburgh offices.

Widely respected and well-known as a community and industry leader, Tom will focus on the growth and development of our practice in Western New York and Western Pennsylvania—forging successful client relationships, mentoring staff, creating new partnerships across our core markets, and helping advance our brand and presence in the region.

Tom joins CannonDesign from Wendel Architects and Engineers where he was the Director of Business Development. He led Wendel in refining its business development processes, coaching client leaders and supporting the firm in winning significant work across the education, healthcare, hospitality and engineering sectors.

A lifelong Buffalonian, Tom has immense love for the city and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities the region faces.

  • Like many rust belt cities, Buffalo is experiencing a major economic resurgence. In the last decade, it’s transformed into a national destination for business, industry and culture. CannonDesign has played a leading role in this transformation, and I’m looking forward to building on that success and helping our region do better for all.

Recent projects include 201 Ellicott, the Health Professions Hub at D'Youville, Ehrman Crest Elementary/Middle School and numerous projects with M&T Bank.

Outside of work, Tom is deeply involved in sports. He’s the co-founder of two not-for-profits, the Buffalo Stallions Soccer Club (Formerly Empire United Soccer Academy) and Algonquin Sports for Kids. He’s remained involved in the Buffalo Stallions program as the Executive Director. This experience—in addition to his MA degree in Counseling & Educational Psychology—directly influences his leadership style in the workplace, which is deeply rooted in teamwork, coaching and communication.
