Facility Optimization Solutions™ (FOS)

CannonDesign’s FOS team is a market responsive consultancy focused on advancing solutions to the greatest challenges faced by our clients and society. We enhance our clients’ capabilities in managing their existing facility assets and operations more efficiently and effectively.

Equipped with a scope of services and software technology from facility condition assessments, commissioning and retro-commissioning, to product design, maintenance planning and geographic information systems (GIS), our focus is delivering assessments and plans driven by data and results. These efforts help our clients manage their total cost of ownership of their facility inventory- from conception to demolition- and empower them to “scenario plan” the future of their buildings rather than simply react to circumstances and the passage of time.

Our FOS team is backed by CannonDesign’s long-standing commitment to excellence in design, technological innovation and project delivery. Every day, our global network of architects, engineers and designers deliver best-in-class work around the world. This strong support system empowers FOS to help clients at any point throughout a building’s life cycle, translating data into actions that create stronger futures for our clients.

Comprehensive Facility Condition Assessment

CannonDesign’s Facility Optimization Solutions (FOS) comprehensive facility assessments empower clients to optimize their facilities throughout their entire life cycles – from conception to demolition. Assessments deliver to clients precise, accurate building data to support their strategic and tactical planning, development of capital plans and budgets and asset management.

CannonDesign’s facility assessments empower organizations with a building-by-building, room-by-room, system-by-system evaluation of their facilities. Our licensed architects, engineers and cost estimating professionals conduct detailed evaluations and store collected data in a comprehensive web database platform that directly corresponds to criteria required by government authorities and client protocols.

The resulting database becomes an indispensable planning tool for an organization, giving them the power to strategically track facilities and development needs while managing repairs and capital projects in a predictable, efficient manner.

We collaborate with you to understand your needs in preparation for any unfolding incident. We leverage the knowledge gained from these activities to deliver the most pertinent data and information in a format that is accurate, timely and accessible to those who need it when a situation occurs.

CannonDesign team members have collaborated with multiple Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) cities and have assessed critical infrastructure and key resources, written Comprehensive Emergency Management Plans, and prepared and/or revised Multi-Jurisdictional All-Hazard Mitigation including Continuity of Operations Planning.

Building System Commissioning

Buildings designed to meet high-performance goals often require commissioning (Cx) to ensure they operate to their full potential. Simply designing a building to be sustainable, does not assure it will meet these goals. Commissioning is the comprehensive and systematic process to document building requirements – owner objectives, intended building use, and system performance goals – and then verify that these requirements are met throughout design, construction, acceptance and occupancy phases.

Cx is a core element of any organization’s sustainable strategy as it translates and incorporates sustainable design components into an operational building. Cx helps clients eliminate redundancies, work efficiently and ultimately save money and resources.

Our commissioning team comprehensively documents building requirements — owner objectives, intended building use, and systems performance goals — and systematically verifies these requirements are met throughout design, construction, acceptance, and occupancy.
