CannonDesign is thrilled to announce that Contract magazine, one of the leading interior design and architecture publications, has published a feature story on the University of Minnesota Health Clinics & Surgery Center. This builds on continued press for this great project as it has been named one of the 27 most innovative spaces of the year by Fast Company and also been profiled by STAT, QZ, Healthcare Design and others.
Per Contract, “the rapidly changing face of healthcare delivery is reflected in CannonDesign’s thoughtful design for the University of Minnesota Health (M Health) Clinics & Surgery Center. Here, a wide range of multidisciplinary specialists – including physicians, pharmacists, social workers and therapists – deliver clinical medicine in nearly 40 adult medical specialties ranging from primary care to neurology to cardiology.”
The piece also highlights how the project incorporates hospitality- and retail-inspired experiences, “For patients and their companions, the user experience draws on best practices from retail, including Apple stores, as well as hospitality interiors. Rather than a large, imposing reception desk, patients are greeted by by a tablet-toting staff member in the first floor’s expansive entry area at the center of the building. Patients receive and RFID badge, so that they can be located anywhere within. “It’s a different kind of experience for the users,” says M Health Chief Operating Officer Mary Johnson.
