Franciscan Health Michigan City recently celebrated the opening of its new hospital with a blessing ceremony and a series of open houses. The events commemorated the completion of the new hospital, which is slated to open Jan. 12. Highlights from the blessing and dedication can be viewed here.

The new 425,000 sf hospital includes 123 private rooms, an emergency department with two trauma units, a behavioral health treatment area, state-of-the-art surgical capabilities, and an outpatient center. The facility’s design is based on a prototypical full-service acute care configuration developed by CannonDesign, which greatly expedited the design and construction process.
