Ciminelli Real Estate Team, Including CannonDesign, Selected to Redevelop Women’s & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Site
CannonDesign is proud to announce it is part of the Ciminelli Real Estate Corporation team selected by Kaleida Health as the designated developer for the redevelopment of Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. The Kaleida Health Board of Directors announced the designation following its June meeting.
“We are very pleased to be able to take the next step in the process of developing the Bryant Street campus,” said Michael P. Hughes, senior vice president of Kaleida Health. “We had four outstanding proposals, and we thank the development teams for participating and honoring this process. The community will ultimately benefit from their great work.”
The Ciminelli team proposes “QueensLight,” a transformational project featuring residential, educational, retail, hospitality and public spaces designed to “bring new energy” to the Elmwood Village. Key partners include Tapestry Charter School, EduKids, Delaware Soccer Club, INNVest Loding Services, S(P)ark! Buffalo, Resource Art and the Albright Knox Art Gallery.
Oishei Children’s Hospital, which is under construction on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, will open in late 2017 and replace the nearly 125-year old Bryant Street facility. The Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo property is comprised of seven interconnected buildings constructed between 1917 and 1995, and encompassing approximately 617,000 sf on a site between Bryant Street and Hodge Ave.
