As the education market leader, Mike will partner with higher education and PK-12 institutions in Houston to help orchestrate strategies, new pedagogies and physical spaces that empower students and the future of learning. He brings significant leadership to an existing Houston team already consistently working with institutions including the University of Houston-Clear Lake and Rice University, among others.
“Mike’s joining is a really exciting moment for our Houston office,” said Kristin Ledet, our Houston Office Practice Leader. “Mike is so incredibly passionate about learning and how design can ignite exciting possibilities for students, teachers and entire communities. That passion coupled with his experience and insight amplifies CannonDesign’s ability to help education clients reshape their learning environments and best empower students to thrive.”
Mike is originally from Louisiana and has spent the last two decades leading projects across the country, most recently as our Pittsburgh Education leader. He has worked with higher education clients including Bucknell University, Penn State University, West Virginia University and the University of Pittsburgh.
He’s also worked extensively in PK-12 with both public and private schools, including a current project that unites Seneca Valley School District, CannonDesign and the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to rethink learning spaces. The partnership and results are considered a breakthrough model for other K-12 districts across the country.
“I believe every component of a school or campus should advance learning,” said Corb. “Partnering with institutions to think about how design can influence learning spaces across every dimension is what drives me, and I’m thrilled to be able to do that in Houston moving forward.”
In joining our Houston team, Mike brings expertise in project delivery, design innovation, technology and cost management to help his clients create remarkable, results-focused spaces. He also brings his wife, children and pets to strengthen our larger community.
“I’ve been fortunate to work across the globe during my career, but the Southern U.S. has always been home” explained Mike. “There are so many incredible learning institutions in the Houston region, the potential for positive impact is boundless…I’m excited about this new opportunity in every way.
In taking this new role, Mike bolsters CannonDesign’s education expertise and capabilities in Texas. Earlier this year, we announced Don Hensley joined as Director of Texas Education Strategy and Paul Mills as a key PK-12 leader based in our Dallas office.
Our education practice partners with learning institutions every day to help them design breakthrough spaces and experiences that fuel student success.
